What is Content Blocks Builder?

Content Blocks Builder (CBB) is a WordPress plugin that lets you visually create custom layout blocks using only core and third-party blocks — directly in the native Block Editor, with no code required.

You can build custom blocks by wrapping other blocks inside flexible container blocks that support native features like typography, colors, spacing, borders along with advanced features like responsive grids, carousels, accordions/toggles, modals/off-canvas panels, background effects, entrance animations, and more.
You can also create repeater blocks that display repeating content — similar to ACF’s repeater field, but 100% block-based.

CBB also makes it easy to build block variations and custom block styles, so you can reuse common configurations and streamline content creation — saving time and keeping things consistent.

CBB’s goal is to help you build complex websites visually using just core blocks and native Gutenberg features — no need for bloated block libraries, custom themes, or advanced coding.

What makes CBB different from other block builder plugins?

Unlike traditional block builder tools that rely on custom controls, CBB creates container-style blocks — similar to enhanced versions of the core Group or Columns blocks.

Inside these containers, you can use any blocks — core or third-party — such as Heading, Paragraph, Image, and more. All inner blocks retain their original functionality and settings.

You can also define a set of pre-configured inner blocks inside a CBB block (like a template or pattern). These act as a template for all block instances, and optionally, you can turn them into reusable components:
Update the layout or style once, and the changes apply everywhere the block is used — while content stays separate.

CBB is designed to be bloat-free. When installed, it registers just five lightweight layout blocks: Advanced Group, Grid, Carousel, Accordion, and Stack. You can use these to build layouts right away or create your own block versions (great for white-labeling). If you don’t want these built-in blocks to appear in the block inserter, you can easily hide them in their settings.

We also provide a growing library of custom blocks, variations, and patterns — all created using CBB itself. These are not bundled into your site. You only import what you need, keeping your site clean and fast.
Customize them to match your style or use them as starting points for your own designs.

When should you use CBB?

  • When you need custom layouts, but you don’t want to install a bloated block plugin.
Use CBB to create layouts that go beyond what core blocks offer — such as responsive grids, sliders/carousels, toggles/accordions, modals/off-canvas panels, background effects, entrance animations, etc.
  • When you want to create block variations and styles
Design custom variations and styles for any block — buttons, images, text, and more — to keep your designs consistent and user-friendly. This is especially helpful for non-technical users or teams building reusable design systems.
  • When enhancing the Query Loop block
CBB makes it easy to build responsive grid or carousel layouts for the Query Loop block — compatible with posts, pages, or any custom post type.
  • When you just need some great-looking sections
Browse CBB’s library of unique blocks, variations, and patterns. Import just the ones you need — clean, efficient, and ready to use.
